Effie Cox – the OC Surf Club’s Environmental Chairperson has a busy April with trash and beach clean ups the entire month. March 30th there is a Church group of 800 volunteers that will meet at 100th street in Ocean City at 12:30pm to clean the town of OC and West OC. Along with Maryland Coastal Bays Program the OC Surf Club will organize and manage this tremendous effort provided by these thoughtful volunteers. The OC Surf Club won the the Special Committee Award – up against over 100 awesome floats! The Ocean City Surf Club’s “Surf Into Integrity” program at the Stephen Decatur Middle School began on September 19th and currently has 13 students participating in the 2018 class. The class meets on Wednesdays to discuss chapters from the course text book “The Surfers Code” written by World Champion surfer Shaun Tomson. Then on Sundays at 9am we circle up on the beach at 36th street in OC to review those chapters and talk about how they relate to lessons we learn if life. This information is paving the way for source reduction programs”. Our community rocks!! YOU are part of the solution, this is the first time in over 30 years Coastal Bays has scored higher than a C.
